I don't like Natalie Portman that much but
My Blueberry Nights looks good...definitely a story Wong Kar-Wai has done and done, but I think his intention is to bring his style to an American mainstream audience without taking a risk on a story he doesn't know well enough. He knows this classic romance story like the back of his hand, but the cast is full of strangers. Heartbroken girl (Norah Jones, who is SO cute) meets heartbroken boy (Jude Law, pretty and a good actor). They have an adventure and meet interesting characters (Natalie Portman, Rachel Weisz, and possibly Chan Marshall) who also have a complicated life story. The only thing that I fear is that he'll start writing American films and cease writing films starring Maggie Cheung and Tony Leung. The preview for the film features a Cat Power song.
I have to admit Wong Kar-Wai became my favorite filmmaker after Chungking Express, which is my favorite film. I've never been so obsessed over a filmmaker. The best way I can describe him is with three words: Long Seductive Shots.
Well right now I am waiting for my sister. She lost her house keys and has her two best friends over for the weekend from Michigan so I have to wait for them to get home so I can let them in and go hang out. One is preggerz and one is getting married. You can only imagine the amount of wedding and baby blabber. I was going to drive her car to pick them up but then I found out she forgot to leave the parking ticket behind. My sister is truly absentminded at times.
Moving out of the apartment from her should be great.
